What to Expect When Working With a Floral Preservation Artist

What to Expect When Working With a Floral Preservation Artist

From Fresh Blooms to Forever Keepsakes—Here’s How the Process Works

You’ve had your special moment—your wedding, an anniversary, a memorial, or maybe something beautifully unexpected—and now you’re holding a bouquet you never want to let go of.

That’s where I come in.

As a floral preservation artist with nearly five years of experience, I’ve helped clients turn meaningful flowers into keepsakes that last for generations. Whether you’re interested in resin art, shadow boxes, or pressed flower frames, my goal is always the same: to honor your story with care, creativity, and craftsmanship.

If you’re new to the process or wondering what working with a preservation artist is really like, here’s everything you can expect from start to finish.

1. Initial Booking & Consultation

The best time to reach out? As soon as possible—even before your event!

Once you contact me, we’ll talk about:
• Your event date
• Your floral style or bouquet type
• What preservation options you’re interested in
• Your budget and timeline

I’ll walk you through available designs, customizations, and what pieces might best match your style and needs.

2. Securing Your Spot

To officially book, I’ll ask for a deposit to reserve your preservation slot. Because flowers are time-sensitive, I limit how many clients I take on at once to ensure each bouquet gets the attention it deserves.

Once you’re on my calendar, I’ll send:
• A flower care guide to keep your blooms fresh
• Shipping or drop-off instructions (depending on where you’re located)
• Optional design questionnaires if you’d like to customize your piece further

3. Receiving & Prepping Your Flowers

After your event, you’ll either drop off your bouquet or ship it to me using my provided guidelines. As soon as I receive your flowers, I begin the preservation process, which includes:
• Sorting & inspecting the flowers for damage or browning
• Drying them properly (air drying, pressing, or silica gel depending on the design)
• Prepping your layout based on your chosen style—resin, shadow box, or pressed frame

This stage takes time! Drying alone can take 1–3 weeks, depending on the flowers.

4. Designing Your Keepsake

Once your flowers are fully dry and ready, I move into design. This is where the magic really happens.
• Resin pieces: I hand-place each bloom in a mold, layer by layer, with crystal-clear resin
• Shadow boxes: I arrange flowers in a 3D layout and may include extras like photos, ribbon, or invitations
• Pressed frames: I flatten and arrange blooms in a botanical-style art piece for a delicate, timeless look

If you’ve requested a custom layout or color scheme, I’ll follow your preferences—or offer suggestions based on your bouquet’s natural beauty.

5. Finishing Touches & Delivery

Once your piece has cured or been assembled, I do a quality check and add any finishing touches—like hanging hardware, protective packaging, or gift wrapping (if requested).

Then, I’ll reach out to coordinate pickup, local delivery, or shipping. You’ll receive your piece beautifully boxed and ready to display.

6. Continued Care & Connection

I also provide:
• Care instructions to keep your piece looking beautiful for years
• The option to order additional keepsakes (like coasters, ornaments, or gifts for family)
• The opportunity to book future preservation for anniversaries, birthdays, or memorials

Many of my clients come back year after year—it’s one of my favorite parts of this work.

Final Thoughts

Preserving flowers isn’t just a transaction—it’s a creative collaboration and a way to hold onto life’s most meaningful moments. Whether you’re working with me for a wedding bouquet, a memorial arrangement, or something entirely unique, you can expect:
• Clear communication
• Personalized care
• A keepsake made with heart

If you’re ready to begin your floral preservation journey, I’d be honored to work with you.

Let’s turn your bouquet into a forever piece.
